My Seventeenth Year

I'm not that witty

[I’ve got to get used to writing ‘11…]

Balance. It’s a little ironic that today I started to write a blog (okay, so my second attempt) because one of my “New Year’s Resolutions” is that I’m going to maintain some more balance in my life.

Life is crazy. And by crazy, I mean busy, not crazy as in scary or unpredictable, or anything else of that fashion. Life is busy busy BUSY. Between balancing school and my extra-curriculars, I find it hard to make time to spend time with family, friends, and take care of myself. And yet, I always find time to go on Facebook. Cool.

So why write a blog, when I could be getting ahead on homework, catching up with some friends, or even getting some well-needed sleep? I miss writing on a regular basis. I miss emptying my countless thoughts into something a little more permanent. And it’s 2011, gosh darnit! A year to remember. Not that that sounded cheesy or anything.

I’ve already gotten off track. Balance. Balance. Balance…

Between the things I should do and the things I want to do

Between the things I look forward to and the things I need to focus on in the moment

Between self-indulgence and taking care of myself

Between sleep and well…the internet

So blogging. We’ll see how long I keep this up, because honestly, I have a bad habit of not following through on my countless endeavors. But I’m challenging myself. To do this, to maintain some balance as my life spins even further into a whirlwind, and to maybe get some people to care about what I have to say, because one day, I want it to be worth it.

George Washington’s motto: “Deeds, not words”

Couldn’t agree more, GDub, so with that, I’m going to bed.
